Summer Reading

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?
1.  TECHNOLOGY:  Ask to join LCCTC CP English on Facebook.  If don't have a Facebook account, that's okay, just send me an email (It's best if you have a gmail -- we'll use it a lot in class this next year), and I'll be pleased to make sure you get all important information.  You can reach me at any time at LynMcVicker@gmail.com .

2.  VOCABULARY:  Study the list of "100 Most Commonly Used Latin Roots" through Quizlet:  https://quizlet.com/16553388/flashcards  We'll take a test on 50 of these words on the first Friday of class when you return to school.

3.  READING:  You can choose to:
  • Read The Maze Runner by James Dashner and meet us in Cascade Park for a reading event.  We are planning to meet on the Tuesday morning of the week of the Lawrence County Fair (August 16th) from 10 -12.  Wear comfortable clothing and be ready for some fun!  Please RSVP by completing this Google Form:  http://goo.gl/forms/WoU0xc0rxp2IvlH82
OR
  • Create a free student account at NewsELA.com; current LCCTC students should use their username and password to get into the school computer system -- if you forget, contact me, and I can access your sign-in information.  Join the class LCCTC Summer Reading.  The code is R69AM8.  Read 33 articles of your choice and take the corresponding 4 point quiz.  For more information, check out this video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RPPSs-zBA8
You can EARN BONUS POINTS by reading an additional 33 articles in NewsELA.
